The Directorate for the Chief Operating Officer, NHS Scotland is responsible for developing Health & Social Care Policy for the people of Scotland. The Directorate works to achieve the best health and care outcomes for people by supporting NHS Scotland in delivering key performance targets. This post sits in the Person-centred, Openness and Learning, and Review (POLR) Unit in the Scottish Government’s Healthcare Quality and Improvement Division. The division is part of the Directorate for the Chief Operating Officer, and focuses on ensuring that every person in Scotland receives healthcare that is effective, person-centred and safe. Responsibilities Manage the Scottish Government’s relationship with the Independent Clinical Review for former patients of Sam Eljamel, following established processes to ensure the chair is supported to deliver an independent, person-centred and trauma-informed process. Ensure that any outstanding commitments from prior reviews relating to Eljamel are progressed. Provide high-quality policy advice and support to the Review and to Ministers, ensuring a person-centred approach at all times. Ensure that relevant SG documents and records are managed and stored appropriately and supplied when required to the separate independent Public Inquiry. Ensure strong clear relationships with a range of public, professional and internal stakeholders. This will include managing engagement on behalf of the Scottish Government with NHS Tayside and former patients, where this is not directly related to the Independent Clinical Review or Public Inquiry. Working autonomously in a fast-paced environment and be able to provide leadership across the office and to the wider organisation.
