School Cook based at our site in Ashington

Scale: Grade 4 Equated Salary (FTE: £25,584 - £27,269)
Hours: 5 Days per week (25 hours)
Contract type: Permanent plus 4 TTD
Reports to: Catering Manager
We are a specialist primary school based on two sites; Blythdale and Ashdale.

What we are looking for
We are currently looking for a reliable and friendly person with a positive attitude to join our team as a Cook. It is essential you hold a minimum NVQ level 2 in Food Processing and Cooking or equivalent. You must also have a minimum of 3 years’ experience of working within a busy catering environment. You will report to the Catering Manager at Blyth.

Qualifications & Experience:
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in a catering kitchen
* Good cooking skills and ability to follow prescribed menus
* A clear understanding of working with children (knowledge of the dietary needs of children with SEND)
* Level 2 Food Hygiene
* Good verbal communication skills
* Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety Requirements
* Awareness and compliance with relevant Health & Safety procedures
* Ability to work with others as part of a team

* To be a kind and dedicated person who is prepared to develop the kitchen facility and menu offering at the school.
* To work as part of a wider team across the Northern Hub to produce a healthy balanced menu for our pupils.
* To actively participate in school life to ensure the catering facility supports the teaching and learning in school.
* To take pride in the work space and ensure that all policies, procedures and legislation are met so that we provide an excellent service.
* To be prepared to undertake further professional development to ensure a professional delivery is achieved.
