Job Title: Maintenance Planner
Location: Gloucester
Job Purpose
You will be reporting to the Maintenance Manager. The purpose of your role is to support the Maintenance Manager and the other Operational Leaders in the effective planning of maintenance activities across the Sourcing Unit, ensuring that 3rd party and critical maintenance activities are planned and managed effectively. You will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with all legal and mandatory engineering requirements and providing support in analysis to continually improve the equipment reliability and cost-effectiveness of the Factory maintenance programme.
You will play a key role in the operational model during Preparation, Execution, and Standard working phases. During Preparation, you will work with the Engineering Technician through maintenance planning processes, develop new and streamline current PM activities, and optimize frequencies as required. During Deployment and Execution, you will schedule weekly tasks from the factory masterplan, modify tasks when required, and arrange engineering resources aligned to the weekly maintenance plan with the Engineering Technician.
You will provide detailed analysis on maintenance performance within your area, highlighting gaps and areas for improvement. Where necessary, it is expected that the maintenance planner actively carries out maintenance activities or supports problem solving and expedites the resolution to stoppages caused by equipment condition.
Responsibilities
Maintenance
1. Support the Maintenance Manager / OSHE Advisor in identifying statutory activities to be carried out within the department.
2. Assist in identifying critical control points on the equipment and ensure they are inspected according to relevant procedures, including these requirements in the maintenance schedules.
3. Ensure 5S standards are clearly defined and followed, performing 5S audits according to the defined schedule and implementing improvement actions.
4. Manage the maintenance planning systems and processes for maintenance slots, overhauls, and engineering workshops, generating the required task lists.
5. Lead the maintenance planning for your assigned area, assisting with assessment of appropriate resource availability to ensure tasks can occur without conflicting requirements.
6. Administer resource scheduling, assessing resource optimization and allocation.
7. Lead the PM sessions on your allocated lines, ensuring effective kick-off and close-out of each slot.
8. Ensure that learnings from maintenance activities and breakdowns are fed back into the maintenance schedules and equipment ledgers.
9. Ensure the KPIs & KAIs for maintenance are graphically generated and reviewed, and carry out gap analysis regularly to understand and input into the improvement plan.
10. Be involved in the equipment ranking process and apply criteria to prioritize maintenance.
11. Look to reduce frequency and time of PM schedules through improvements or loss reduction.
12. Manage assigned maintenance contracts/Subcontractor activities.
13. Own the Emergency Work Order (EWO) system including trending & analyzing EWO data, action tracking, and action closure for EWOs.
14. Develop an Equipment ledger focused Preventative maintenance strategy.
Safety
1. Be proactive in the machine and people safety of self and others.
2. Advocate for safety and set the standard for the Maintenance Engineers and Subcontractors.
3. Adhere to Site and Legislative safety standards (Codes of practice).
4. Involve in safety and risk assessments as appropriate, including carrying out hazard inspections.
5. Conduct site safety audits such as SBOs and DCAs.
6. Coordinate machinery safety activities.
Policies and Standards
1. Help ensure site compliance with all Quality, Environmental Standards, Site Rules and Regulations, Code of Business Principles, and Procedures.
2. Deliver the site factory services at 100% service levels while remaining within operational standards at all times.
3. Be responsible for the scheduling & compliance of maintenance for all food safety critical equipment.
4. Support the site quality and management team during key quality audits.
Cost
1. Specify and order spares as appropriate, adhering to local authorities and recording processes.
2. Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to ensure budgets and priorities remain a focus.
General
1. Ensure that all documentation and manuals are kept up to date and stored in an organized manner.
2. Ensure all workshop and office areas are kept neat and tidy by applying the 5S principles.
3. Record and review all engineering issues that occur on the shift in the appropriate Maintenance Management systems, providing a detailed report for the morning review.
4. Maintain regular contact with the Maintenance Manager and Team Leaders throughout the shift, being fully aware of the site priorities to maintain site manufacturing and safety.

1. Regularly review with Management including safety, performance reviews, breakdown analysis & work progress.

You will be flexible to fulfill business needs.
Hours of work are Mon – Fri 8-hour shifts.
Professional Qualifications
1. Completed a recognized engineering apprenticeship and applied mechanical and electrical skills in your current (or recent) role.
2. Ideally Mechanical and Electrical Multiskilled.
3. Qualified to ONC/HND and NVQ3 or equivalent.
Essential
ALL ABOUT YOU
1. You will have previous experience with Maintenance Management within a manufacturing setting.
2. Condition-based monitoring: e.g. Thermography, vibration analysis, etc.
3. Failure Mode Effect Analysis.
4. Predictive techniques: e.g. oils analysis, historical data from CMMS systems to predict component lifecycle.
5. Asset management.
6. You will hold a Technical Qualification (formal engineering apprenticeship (dual skill) advanced diploma or equivalent + NVQ 3 in both disciplines).
7. Experience of Diagnostic/Fault finding/ Lubrication.
8. Experienced in CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management Systems).
9. Coupa Buying System (Purchasing system for spare parts).
