As a Healthcare Assistant, with proven healthcare experience in an acute or community environment, you will assist with the delivery of patient care. Providing support to health care professionals within a multi-disciplinary team, working under the supervision of the clinician and within the group parameters of practice.
Main duties of the job
As someone who can work with autonomy, you will apply your skills and knowledge to the following clinical areas of responsibilities:
1. ECG recording
2. Experience and knowledge in wound-care
3. Removal of sutures and staples
4. Deliver Vaccinations under PSD and support from trained professionals deliver Flu vaccine, Pneumonia vaccines and B12 injections.
5. Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients within your own skillset.
6. Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well-being
7. Chaperoning duties
8. Knowledge of EMIS templates to undertake nursing assessments and Long-Term Condition reviews
9. Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms.
10. Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses.
11. Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
12. Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
13. Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
14. Assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
15. Support the medical and nursing team throughout the day

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience as HCA or health support worker within a health care setting and/or primary care.
* Holds a care certificate.
* Can work to a high standard of care under supervision.
* Understands the impact of national and local issues on patients and services.
* Worked in a senior HCA role.
* Act as a mentor for other healthcare staff.
Qualifications
* Basic English and Maths GCSE level C and above (new grade 4 and above)
* Care Certificate Award and/or Qualified to NVQ level 2 Healthcare
* Other recognised form of educational attainment
* Previous healthcare experience in Primary Care clinical role
* Qualified to NVQ level 3
* Specialist qualification in advanced role
* Extensive CPD
