Job summary We are looking for a Clinical Support Worker/Clinical Support Worker Higher Level to join the Surgical Admissions Unit team. The successful applicant will work within our Surgical Admissions Units at The James Cook University Hospital and Redcar Hospital. We have 3 units across the 2 sites. At James Cook University Hospital we have 22 female chairs and 14 male chairs, at Redcar Hospital we have a unit for patients undergoing local anaesthetic Plastics and Vascular procedures. Main duties of the job The successful applicant will be working within the Surgical Admissions Unit portfolio assisting and caring for patients undergoing surgery. This will entail admitting the patients for their surgery, caring for them post operatively and discharging them home when safe. The role of a clinical support worker higher level within the Surgical Admissions Unit is a specialised and extremely interesting and rewarding role. As a support worker you will be directly impacting on the quality of care we provide to patients undergoing a surgical procedure. Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending upon qualifications. Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role. Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9) Care certificate Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; - Theoretical knowledge - Experience of a range of care and related procedures - clinical observations - knowledge of relevant legislation There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications.
