Job overview
This exciting role as a Dialysis Unit Receptionist has become available as a secondment. As a receptionist, you are the first point of contact for patients visiting the unit. The receptionist will provide a full reception service, including meeting and greeting all attendees to the unit reception area, offering a high level of administrative support to the Clinical teams, ensuring the accurate completion of registration details, maintaining computerized records, and dealing with queries in a sympathetic and appropriate manner. The post also involves participation in the running and preparation of outpatient clinics.
Main duties of the job
1. To greet patients to the unit
2. Manage patient allocations for the week
3. To undertake routine clerical work and associated tasks
4. To receive telephone enquiries and deal with them in a prompt, professional manner to ensure accurate information is disseminated to designated parties
5. To arrange ambulance/taxi transport for patients as required
6. Manage patient notes, folders and computer systems
7. To work well as part of a team whilst being able to use their own initiative to provide administrative support to ensure effective high quality service is provided.

1. To be polite and friendly, dealing with queries in an efficient and timely manner.
2. To ensure patient information is kept confidential and not shared with others.
3. To respond to queries from patients, carers and visitors
4. To maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, raising concerns promptly if there are any safety or wellbeing issues.
5. To keep patients informed if their slot is late
Person specification
* Experience of general office administrative and clerical duties and equipment
* Experience of customer services
* Previous NHS or healthcare experience
