In Cornwall, we offer an integrated drug and alcohol service, delivering an asset based community approach to treatment. We specialise in harm reduction and needle syringe provision, psychosocial interventions, opioid substitution treatment, referral to detox and community interventions.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Employment specialist to join our Individual Placement and Support (IPS) team in Cornwall.
Job Opportunity
Our IPS team aims to increase the number of people moving into employment from our drug and alcohol support service. This is an exciting opportunity to help make a real difference to people's lives.
The role will involve managing the IPS team, as well as holding a small caseload. You will take the lead on employer engagement and work closely with key stakeholders. You will also ensure the IPS project achieves it targets and delivers the correct support.
We are looking for someone who understands the importance of good employment, and the role it can play in the lives of those with multiple challenges and substance misuse issues.
You will be confident in working with a range of employers and have excellent multi agency and partnership working skills. You will have experience of supporting and managing staff, to achieve performance outcomes. We are ideally looking for candidates who have experience of working with people recovering from substance misuse and/or mental health problems or a similar client group and also have an understanding of the principles and practices of the IPS model of supported employment.
Good communication skills are key, as well as demonstrating a non-judgemental and empathic approach. You will have experience of working with people from a variety of backgrounds, and those facing additional challenges to gain employment.
This post includes supporting the IPS service working alongside our partner agencies in the Torbay area which is completed through remote working. Should you be successful in your application, you will be required to provide 3 years' worth of references and where applicable, will need to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
Essential Skills
* Be educated to degree level, or with equivalent relevant work experience and evidence of continuous professional development
* Have substantial experience of helping people facing severe labour market disadvantage to obtain or keep work
* Have a Full UK Driving Licence and assess to a car
* Have the ability to develop relationships with multiple stakeholders, including employers, partner agencies, clients and their family/carer
* Be able to work in a complex environment and demonstrate a high level of perseverance, being committed to seeing plans through to completion with agreed timescales
* Have an understanding of the principles and practices the Integrated Support and Placement (IPS) model of supported employment
* Have experience of collaborative working and working in multi-agency partnerships and working in partnership with a range of statutory and third sector agencies
* Have ability to support clients and employers when a client's job is at risk
* Communicate highly complex and specialist information effectively both verbally and in writing, including the production of formal reports
* Have knowledge and experience of service user involvement, consultation and co-production
* Have good verbal and written communication skills
* Be able to lead and motivate others, nurture and encourage clients
* Have strong IT skills - ideally in Google Workspace
* Be organised and excellent time management skills
* Have flexibility to work from different locations in order to deliver the services required and ability to work flexible and unsocial hours as required
