Clinical Role:
To undertake a range of clinically specific duties appropriate to the delivery of client care. This includes the ability to:
1. ECG recording according to BMG protocol
2. Phlebotomy
3. Spirometry
4. Assisting doctors when fitting IUDs and implants
5. Smoking cessation advice
6. Ear syringing
7. Some immunisations
8. Diabetic foot checks
9. Dressings
10. Removal of sutures
11. Doppler assessments
12. Urinalysis
13. Hypertension and CHD management according to BMG protocol
14. INR/warfarin management according to BMG protocol
15. Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
16. Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
17. Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
18. Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
19. Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
20. Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
21. Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well-being
22. Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
23. Take part in telephone monitoring programme for vulnerable patients
24. Take part in any new projects that may be taken on by BMG in the future, if deemed to be suitable for the HCP role
25. Recognise and take appropriate action when adverse measurements/observations are recorded and ensure the appropriate action is taken in a timely manner
26. Collating information gathered from the CHD checks and ensuring prompt referrals when necessary to a practice GP or specialist nurse
27. Demonstrate excellent customer care skills at all times by treating clients with dignity, courtesy and respect
28. Recognise and be able to respond appropriately to challenging behaviour
29. Recognise both your own and others' level of clinical competence, responsibility and accountability to ensure safe practice, and to take appropriate action when there is a concern
30. Take personal responsibility for keeping up-to-date with new developments and participate in clinical audit when appropriate
31. Act as a role model by upholding and implementing good practice in the workplace, always ensuring the highest standards of evidence-based care
32. Report all accidents and incidents in accordance with company policies and procedures
33. Be willing to undertake any training deemed appropriate for the development of the role
Communication & Working Relationships:
The post-holder will establish and maintain effective communication pathways with the following:
1. GPs within the practice
2. Nurse Manager
3. Lead Nurse
4. Clinical Practice Nurses
5. Phlebotomists
Special Working Conditions:
The post-holder will have contact with body fluids (e.g., wound exudates; urine) while in clinical practice. The practice operates extended hours on a rota basis and the post holder may be required to work some extended hours shifts.
Health and Safety:
1. Ensure all members of staff comply with the Group's health and safety policy
2. Carry out risk assessments to comply with current Health and Safety legislation
3. Ensure any health and safety concerns are reported to the Operations Manager
4. To be aware of and adhere to applicable practice rules, regulations, legislation and procedures, national legislation (Health and Safety, COSHH, Data Protection).

Governance:
1. Identify and record risks and issues, developing contingency plans with service and contract leads
2. Ensure the PCN is compliant with health and safety policies and procedures to reflect current best practice
3. Ensure that the PCN board and Clinical director adhere to the governance structure as set out in the network agreement
