This is a global benchmark that recognises employers who create an outstanding employee experience. Role overview We are looking for a new Lead Theatre Practitioner to join our Shrewsbury site. This will be no less 40 hours over 5 days per week including cover on weekends on a rota basis. The closing date for applications is 04 January 2024 and interviews will be held on 09 January 2025 in Shrewsbury. Lead Theatre Practitioners undertake operational management of our theatre provision and teams on a day-to-day basis. From a team perspective you'll take responsibility for effective rostering of the team to meet the needs of our clinics and theatre lists. We can typically see 18-22 patients a day in our high-volume cataract surgery provision, so you’ll thrive working in an efficient and fast paced environment. You’ll be an engaging and competent leader – well versed in managing people of different skill sets and clinical backgrounds. You'll hold regular team meetings and provide training & coaching, ensuring yourself and your team undertake regular CPD. From an operational perspective you’ll have a wide range of duties meaning no days will be the same – you could be conducting a variety of audits; ensuring stock take & consumable requirements are fulfilled; investigating any accidents or complaints or providing clinical oversight and guidance. As such you’ll be a good multi-tasker and will be comfortable working under your own initiative. In all you do you’ll ensure the highest standards are met in terms of patient safety, confidentiality, clinical compliance and hygiene levels. What skills and experience do I need? You need to be a fully qualified Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner and have current registration with the NMC or HCPC. You will already have previous experience as a Theatre Manager or Lead of an NHS Department in Ophthalmic Theatres. Alongside the mandatory qualifications you will need: Previous hospital eye service or private eye clinic experience Knowledge of clinical practice and aware of current developments in Optometry Capable of working in a fast paced, high-volume clinical setting Experience of leading a team, including the training and coaching of others The desire for and commitment to continuous professional development A competent user of computer systems and programmes An excellent grasp of the English language both verbally and in written format A good team player – happy to jump in and support others when required What w e’re offering A salary from £45,000 depending upon experience 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays A company pension scheme Access to a range of benefits including free eye tests, discounted or free glasses, a free 24/7 wellbeing/counselling/advice service, cycle to work scheme, blue light discount scheme, annual bonus and length of service reward.
