Job summary Clinical Fellow in Hand Surgery Applications are invited for a fixed term Clinical Fellowship at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre, Royal Derby Hospital to start August 2025. There are currently 11 Consultant Hand Surgeons, 5 Clinical Fellows, 1 Senior Fellow and a Clinical / Research Fellow which has been established through the University of Derby.Approximately 4000 operations are performed each year, with over 7000 new patient attendances through the Centre. All aspects of Hand Surgery injury or disease are treated within the Department.The opportunity for research projects is also available. The Hand Centre has a high academic profile in the field and research projects are encouraged. Main duties of the job Clinical duties will involve staffing out-patient clinics and elective operating lists. A wide variety of procedures are performed, including Rheumatoid, Congenital, Brachial Plexus and micro-surgery. Trauma and elective surgery both take place at the Royal Derby Hospital and considerable operative experience is obtained both supervised and subsequently un-supervised. In addition to the routine ward rounds, the Hand Fellows are expected to supervise closely the care of the trauma patients at the Royal Derby Hospital including a limited amount of ward duties. There are peripheral clinics at Ilkeston (Mr. Johnson and Miss Brown), Balderton (Professor Bainbridge), Uttoxeter (Mr Russell), Ashbourne (Mr. Cresswell) as well as Combined Clinics in Rheumatology (Mr Heras Palou).
