Partner with the best
On-site inspection, testing and repair of the stator, rotor and exciter windings of large high voltage electric generators.
As a Global Field Service Winding Engineer, you will be responsible for:
* Performing Winding inspection, electrical testing, maintenance and repairs on Generator HV windings on customer sites globally.
* Carrying out basic mechanical strip-down (and rebuild) of machines to gain access to the generator windings.
* Carrying out electrical testing on high and low voltage windings in the field.
* Carrying out visual winding inspections of the stator, rotor and excitation system.
* Carrying out in-situ generator winding repairs including stator re-wedge work.
* Working as part of a team for on-site stator strip and rewind operations.
* Assisting mechanical service engineer(s) on assignments, which will not necessarily involve winding related activities.
* Supervising and training internal and external customers.
* Interpreting technical drawings, specifications and technical requirements; prepare method statements and prepare detailed and concise reports for submission to customers. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers’ premises.
* Carrying out an on-site risk assessment on every assignment and record details thereof on the special form provided.
* Carrying out other reasonable duties as directed from time to time by the Field Service Manager.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
* Have an accredited Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification or relevant experience - a minimum, qualified through a recognised Craft apprenticeship in armature winding on large high voltage rotating electrical machines.
* Have experience of working on competitors’ equipment would be an advantage.
* Be competent in soldering, brazing, crimping and HV insulating procedures.
* Be self-sufficient, resourceful and a problem solver.
* Have strength of character and high levels of energy.
* Be an effective communicator, fluent in both spoken and written English.
* Have the ability to undertake extensive overseas and offshore working, often for protracted periods.
