Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is a community focused provider of local and acute care, providing high quality services to over one million people living across the London boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley. With a turnover of around £700 million, we provide services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, University Hospital Lewisham and a range of community settings in Lewisham. We also provide some services at Queen Marys Hospital in Sidcup.

University Hospital Lewisham has the largest stroke rehabilitation centre in the country, and the third largest specialist centre in the UK for treating blood conditions such as sickle cell. The hospital is one of the few in the country to offer opt-out HIV testing in the emergency department, ensuring that any patient who has a blood test is routinely screened for HIV.
The Trusts community services for children and adults in Lewisham are rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.
The Trust is a centre for the education and training of medical students enrolled with Kings College Londons GKT School of Medical Education. We are a training centre for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals. We are pioneering new roles that will support the changing needs of our patients and are one of the largest employers of physician associates in the country.

Job Overview
Are you passionate about providing exceptional healthcare services? Lewisham and Greenwich Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated Matron to join our dynamic Theatres team. This is an incredible opportunity to make a real difference in patient care through leadership, expertise, and collaboration.
There is one theatres service which is delivered across both our Lewisham Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital locations, providing both elective and emergency surgery. Leading a team of theatres co-ordinators, you will be responsible for 11 theatres at Lewisham Hospital. Working collaboratively with your counterpart theatres matron at Queen Elizabeth hospital, you will also work closely with consultants and other clinical colleagues to develop and implement high-quality services that meet the needs of our patients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide strong clinical leadership to ensure the smooth and effective running of the main theatres and strive for continuous productivity improvements to achieve national elective best practice standards.
2. Ensure the delivery of excellent, patient-focused and cost-effective services which are responsive to the needs of patients, carers and General Practitioners and are in line with the Trusts strategic direction and service plans.
3. Undertake root cause and trend analyses for complaints and incidents relating to nursing/ODP, and participate in SI investigations.
4. Identify risks within the area of responsibility and identify, plan, implement and evaluate strategies to reduce and manage risk.
5. Influence strategic development to advance quality of care and enhance the patient experience.
6. Utilise research findings, as applicable, in the delivery of specialist patient care, disseminating relevant information to colleagues.
7. Contribute to the development of research/evidence-based practice within the team.
Professional Leadership And Staff Management
1. Be a visible leader who is accessible to patients, visitors and staff.
2. Provide professional and clinical leadership within their wards/department.
3. Take forward and develop the nursing and midwifery contribution to excellent service provision.
4. Ensure that nursing staff comply with Trust-wide policies and procedures.
5. Represent the Trust at local and National forums promoting achievements in patient care.
Qualifications And Training
Essential criteria
* Degree Registered nurse [Part 1] / or theatres Practitioner Post registration qualification or equivalent experience in theatres specialty.
* Masters degree in relevant discipline or in process of studying to Masters level or equivalent experience.
* Teaching and assessing qualification.
Desirable criteria
* Change or human factor training.
