Job summary
The Finance / SAP Systems Lead (Manager) is responsible to oversee the day-to-day management, implementation and maintenance of finance systems, processes and master data to deliver an effective suite of Finance Systems which includes (but not limited to) the SAP S/4HANA modules (e.g. FICO, MM, SD, REFX, PS, Group Reporting) and SAC (SAP Analytics Cloud).
They will take an active role in the implementation and optimisation of finance related systems and processes to ensure efficient and effective financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting practices, such as coordinating systems schedules, planning, testing and supporting specific projects, improvements and enhancements, report development and upgrades on finance systems.
They act as the bridge between the finance team and IT, providing technical expertise in SAP products and ensuring that the systems support the financial goals and regulatory requirements of VIRTUS as we continue to grow and expand into Europe.
The role will report into the VP of Financial Reporting & Controls, working closely and partnering with colleagues across Finance & IT both locally and at STT GDC Group, together with the co-ordination and use of third party outsourced support.

Duties and Responsibilities
The role includes but is not limited to the following:
Systems Management & Administration
1. Day-to-day management and administration of financial systems, including SAP S/4 HANA core financial modules and add-ins, to support accounting, controlling, and reporting for group consolidation in a multi-entity / multi-currency environment.
2. Act as Subject Matter Expert on the operation, maintenance and development of the system within the team identifying gaps and recommending process improvement initiatives (e.g. automation, data visualisation).
3. Lead or support the implementation of new Finance related systems, modules or upgrades, patches and enhancements, working with IT, STT GDC Group and third-party support or consultants, ensuring successful adoption and minimized disruption.
4. Act as central point of contact in VIRTUS for raising service or incident tickets with third-party support, and proactively lead and manage the resolution and closure of those tickets between Deloitte, STT GDC and the VIRTUS team including escalation where appropriate.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., procurement, sales, HR, operations) to ensure seamless integration of SAP modules with finance.
6. Participate in SAP system integration projects, including mergers, acquisitions, or system migrations as well as new entity set-up and localisation for new countries/regions and support and advise on the ongoing integration of financial and non-financial systems, e.g. SAP, Salesforce and Maximo.
7. Ensure finance systems are compliant with local, national, and international financial regulations (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
8. Maintain appropriate internal controls within SAP and other finance systems to safeguard financial data integrity and accuracy.
9. Conduct regular system audits to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with internal policies.
10. Support internal and external audits by providing data and documentation as required.
11. Liaise with external vendors, auditors, and consultants for any SAP-related initiatives or projects.
Finance Transformation & Project Management
1. Project lead for VIRTUS for the group implementation of SAP Group Reporting (GR) and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) solution for consolidated reporting, analytics and planning.
2. Ownership and development of a Finance Transformation Roadmap for key finance processes to improve process automation, data quality, analytics and productivity.
3. Analyse current financial processes and recommend improvements through optimised use of SAP functionalities or third-party solutions and add-ins.
4. Automate and streamline repetitive accounting processes such as reconciliations, invoicing, and reporting, utilising low-code solutions where appropriate.
5. Customise SAP reports and dashboards to improve visibility into key financial metrics, operational performance and benchmarking.
6. Lead the selection of solutions and manage the implementation of additional financial systems (e.g. balance sheet reconciliation or treasury management tools and/or add-ins), including liaison with external vendors, auditors and consultants as appropriate.
7. Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets for finance system initiatives. Monitor project progress, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the timely delivery of project milestones.
User Support & Training:
1. Provide ongoing training and support to the finance team and wider business on the use of finance systems and SAP functionalities, ensuring efficient use of the system.
2. Troubleshoot system issues and collaborate with IT teams or third-party support and consultants to resolve any technical problems.
3. Develop user guides and documentation for finance system processes and workflows.
Qualifications:
Essential:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
2. SAP certification (e.g., SAP FICO) or professional accounting qualifications (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
Experience:
Essential:
1. Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting or finance experience, with at least 4 years working directly with SAP financial systems.
2. Participation in at least 2 end-to-end SAP FICO implementation and or support, and in workstream sub-lead or lead role on at least 1 implementation.
3. Strong knowledge of finance systems including understanding of FICO, MM, SD, REFX, PS modules of SAP system.
4. Ability to analyse complex financial data and processes to identify areas for improvement.
5. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for system-related issues.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical users.
7. Strong project management abilities with experience of leading system implementations, upgrades, or integration projects.
