Position Summary:
The role of the Logistics Coordinator is integral to the seamless functioning of supply chain operations. The Logistics Coordinator will verify and keep records on outgoing shipments. They are responsible for reviewing packing lists and ensuring correct items are shipped out to customers. They will support our customer service and delivery activities by coordinating shipping and receiving, and being responsible for day-to-day activities of the shipping and receiving team, inventory control, methods, planning, and international shipping documentation. The Logistics Coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating any incoming shipments that require extra support. The position requires a high level of organization, time management, and attention to detail to ensure that customer orders are prepared and shipped accurately and on time. This position will respond positively and proactively to problems and abnormalities such as missing information, inventory discrepancies, and shipment issues.
Key Job Responsibilities:
1. The Logistics Coordinator takes charge of orchestrating the shipping process, meticulously ensuring that products are dispatched accurately and received in alignment with established procedures. This involves overseeing labeling and arranging for timely pickups.
2. The Logistics Coordinator maintains meticulous records of outgoing shipments, including packing lists, invoices, and delivery receipts. This documentation is critical for tracking orders, addressing discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
3. Preparation of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports and a balanced scorecard is a vital aspect of this role, aimed at driving improvements in inventory management and addressing delivery issues.
4. Ensuring the on-time delivery of the supply base remains a pivotal commitment of this role.
5. The role involves proactively identifying issues that might hinder the smooth flow of shipping and resolving them promptly. This includes addressing delays, damaged goods, and documentation discrepancies.
6. The Logistics Coordinator is instrumental in achieving cost reductions for both one-time and ongoing supply requirements.
7. Meeting the one-year goals is an imperative, and this achievement must not compromise operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
8. This role entails physical exertion, including the frequent lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds and occasional handling of loads exceeding 100 pounds.
9. Ensuring accurate inventory levels is a key responsibility. The coordinator monitors stock levels, performs regular audits, and collaborates with inventory management to prevent shortages and excesses.
10. Facilitating seamless communication among different teams and departments is essential. The Logistics Coordinator collaborates with customer service, warehouse personnel, suppliers, and carriers to ensure the timely movement of goods.
11. When dealing with international shipments, the coordinator manages customs documentation, import/export regulations, and compliance with international shipping standards. They work closely with customs brokers and freight forwarders to navigate complex logistics.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of order processing systems, and ability to navigate websites in order to ship products such as UPS, FedEx, etc.
2. Experience operating a Forklift truck.
3. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
4. Ability to write simple correspondence.
5. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
6. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
7. Experience with shipping and receiving using ERP business systems such as Epicor, Oracle, SAP, etc. (prefer Microsoft Dynamics 365).
8. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
9. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workflow.
10. Pro-active problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
Education and Certification Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or general education degree.
2. Prior shipping/receiving experience preferred.
