ANDREW, an Amphenol company, is hiring a Test Engineer to join our Global Manufacturing & Operations team in Kirkcaldy, Fife. This role will report into the Senior RF Engineer, but you will have direct daily contact with multiple teams across the organization.
How You'll Help Us Connect the World
We are seeking an organized and proactive Test Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical and mechanical measurement testing to support production, design engineering teams and project requirements.
You Will Make an Impact By:
1. Setting up, calibrating and performing measurements using test equipment such as Vector Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes.
2. Assembling and testing of prototype or production components from engineering drawings and installation bulletins.
3. Installing and testing of antennas on outdoor test ranges, working at heights of up to 25m.
4. Analyzing measurement data obtained in a scientific manner to assess antenna and component performance.
5. Collaborating with design engineers to receive predicted results, measurement techniques, project requirements and direction.
6. Performing antenna qualification tests such as Vibration and environmental cycling and report findings.
7. Performing ‘Trial Build’ of new products and report in-line with corporate procedures.
8. Raising any engineering design changes.
9. Conducting fault finding performance issues of prototype or production parts using various mechanical and electrical measurement techniques (time domain gating, CMM analysis of parts etc.).
10. Maintaining computer databases of measurements to enable departmental personnel access to measurement results.
Required Qualifications for Consideration:
1. The ability to perform component level measurements using a variety of test equipment such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
2. A high degree of self-motivation required to enable engineer to diagnose test or antenna performance issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring quick and efficient input to design engineers/managers.
3. Good communication skills required to relay results, issues and findings to production managers and global design teams.
4. Willingness to cross train as required e.g. forklift training, antenna rigging, mechanical testing.
5. Working knowledge of PC based software packages, including Office suite, 3D CAD package such as SolidWorks, plus a programming language.
6. Familiarity and working knowledge of the principles associated with ‘Design for Manufacture’.
7. Physical fitness required for working outdoors at height. Associated safety training such as tower climbing, rescue abseil, and first aid will be required to be completed.
