Job Overview
The SII Group UK is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to lead the design of complex Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for space applications. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality PCB designs that meet strict performance, reliability, and environmental standards.
About the Role
We offer a competitive £60,000 - £80,000 per annum salary package, including a 6% employer contribution to your pension and additional benefits such as private medical insurance, life cover, and income protection. You will also have access to flexible working arrangements and opportunities for continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and Development: Lead the end-to-end design of complex PCBs for aerospace and space applications, ensuring they meet strict performance, reliability, and environmental standards.
* High-Speed and RF Design: Design high-frequency RF, high-speed digital, and power distribution circuits tailored for space systems.
* Analysis and Testing: Conduct detailed analysis, schematic capture, PCB layout, and support design verification and testing processes.
* Project Management: Manage the development of multi-layer PCBs, including RF stack-ups, impedance control, and power integrity.
* Certification and Compliance: Ensure designs comply with relevant space and aerospace standards, and support certification processes.
* Laboratory Testing: Use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, etc.) for PCB bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting.
* Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., RF, systems, software) to ensure seamless integration of PCBs into overall system designs.
Requirements and Qualifications
* Education: BEng, MEng, or PhD in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
* Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in PCB design, ideally within aerospace, defence, or space sectors.
* Skills and Tools: Advanced proficiency in PCB schematic capture, layout, and routing, with expertise in Altium or similar tools.
* High-Speed and RF Design: Strong experience in high-speed digital and RF PCB design, including high-frequency signal integrity and EMC considerations.
* Power Distribution: Deep understanding of power management design, including DC-DC converters, power integrity, and thermal management.
* Compliance and Standards: In-depth knowledge of CE, FCC, and space-specific standards (e.g., NASA, ESA), including experience with product certification processes.
* Lab Testing and Simulation: Skilled in using lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers) to verify and troubleshoot designs, and experienced with signal integrity and power integrity simulation tools.
* Communication and Problem-Solving: Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts across multidisciplinary teams, and excellent analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex PCB design issues.
Benefits
* Salary Package: Competitive annual salary and benefits, including a 6% employer contribution to your pension.
* Pension Scheme: Additional contributions to your pension scheme.
