Mulberry 1 is an Acute Assessment Unit welcoming patients from the acute pathway for a period of up to 3 days. We have a strong MDT presence and as a team have an abundance of energy and expertise whilst we work in collaboration both as a team and with our colleagues from neighbouring services and service users.
The ideal candidate will have a strong teamwork ethic, sense of accountability, and the ability to work under considerable pressure at times. This post is open to people with the right attributes to complement and enhance our team. If you are looking for a new challenge, enjoy variety in your work, and wish to be part of a team striving to make a difference for our community by supporting people with acute mental health needs, then we want to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will work as part of the multidisciplinary team but will be supernumerary to the nursing team on each shift in order to protect group and individual patient activity. You will plan and co-ordinate the ward activity programme, co-facilitating groups with nursing staff, healthcare assistants, and the ward Occupational Therapist. We are looking to recruit someone who enjoys working in a dynamic, and at times, challenging environment. You must be able to work flexibly, creatively, and efficiently within the MDT and have excellent communication skills, supporting and motivating service users to engage in meaningful activity on the ward. This will be dependent on the changing needs of the patient group, and informed by close team working, handover meetings, case discussions, etc.
You will be committed to working in Adults & Specialist Mental Health Services and be enthusiastic about joining our skilled and supportive multi-disciplinary team (MDT). The post holder will work intensively with service users aged 18 to 65 years and will be expected to develop and deliver both group and individual sessions which support recovery and promote well-being, under the guidance of a qualified member of staff.
