The Endoscopy unit at Torbay Hospital has been recognised nationally for its high standards of patient care, recognised as an exemplar site for Endoscopy care, training and Bowel Cancer Screening.

The Endoscopy Unit delivers an extended service to include evenings and weekends.

+ To participate in the care, maintenance and use of endoscopes used in endoscopic and non-endoscopic procedures, providing technical assistance during procedures.
+ To ensure provision of a high standard of nursing care to patients attending the Endoscopy Unit, working within agreed policies and procedures.
+ To ensure individual assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care from admission to discharge or transfer, producing documented evidence of this in agreed format.
+ Correct documentation of patient care using the endoscopy unit care pathway including written discharge and aftercare information for patients.
+ To liaise and communicate effectively with relatives, carers and visitors.
+ To liaise and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, other hospital departments and outside agencies (e.g. ambulance service, social services, transport etc.) providing patient centred care.
+ Engage with student nurses and observers giving encouragement, support and guidance.
