Coordinating and organising the attendance of patients to outpatient appointments
Ensuring all administrative processes and enquiries are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner. Typical tasks that you will complete are:
Proof reading clinical letters (please note there is no audio typing in this role)
Monitoring waiting times, ensuring that our patients treatment pathways, from referral to treatment are accurate and up to date (you can find out more on what this means here: NHS England Referral to treatment)
Booking appointments from waiting lists

We are looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a busy and vibrant team to join us 30 hours a week in our Admin team as a Service Administrator/Medical Secretary. The successful candidate must be highly motivated with excellent communication skills, an ability to use your own initiative and work well under pressure. You will be adaptable, reliable and an excellent team member with good secretarial qualifications and/or experience. Knowledge of working in a hospital environment and medical terminology is desirable.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proven experience in dealing with Patients on the telephone. You will be flexible and adaptable with excellent IT skills.
You will need to enjoy the challenge of working as part of a busy team yet have the ability to use your own initiative to meet the changing needs of the department. Our team is made up of dedicated, patient focused individuals, who communicate well and have great interpersonal skills. Theyre organised problem solvers with strong attention to detail.

This is a fixed term contract for six months. For current NHS employees this post could be a secondment opportunity.
