This role is based at the Darlington Economic Campus, which is a ground-breaking new cross-government hub which brings together departments and public organisations that lead on some of the most important economic issues of the day. The Business, Trade & Culture team is a flexible and friendly team of around 20 people that sits across HM Treasury’s economics ministry functions (promoting sustainable economic growth) and its finance ministry functions (spending control for government departments) and ensuring that public money is spent wisely and in support of the government’s objectives. About the Role In this role, you will: Provide excellent, inclusive leadership to a busy team and promote diversity, inclusion and belonging. You will visibly connect the team with cross-cutting work across the department, and lead on corporate work within the group and the department. Based in the Darlington Economic Campus, you will provide visible wider leadership as part of the group of senior officials based here. Build and maintain strong and positive relationships with relevant teams across HM Treasury, the wider public sector and with businesses and business representative organisations. Advise the Chancellor, Chief Secretary to the Treasury and other Treasury Ministers on all aspects of policy towards enterprise, advanced manufacturing, and on business engagement; ensuring that the team provides consistently excellent evidence-led advice which balances competing priorities and prioritises key HMT interests. About You While experience of government spending and leading negotiations between departments is preferable, it is not a pre-requisite for the role. We are looking for inclusive leaders who are able to build strong relationships to drive forward shared priorities.
