Due to promotion of the existing postholder, an exciting opportunity has arisen to take on a Teacher Practitioner role within the Pharmacy team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust and Aston University School of Pharmacy. This post is ideal for someone with an interest in teaching, whilst waiting to retain their clinical skills and knowledge. The postholder would take an honorary clinical teaching fellow position at the university and lead on the SWB undergraduate placement programme. The post is 50% based at Aston University and 50% based at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust in a clinical setting. You will lead on the development and delivery of teaching for undergraduate students, both in a hospital and university setting, to ensure that placements and other courses are delivered to the appropriate syllabuses and standards, supporting practical application of theoretical clinical knowledge. You will also be part of the pharmacy department training team, to support the training and education programme for all clinical staff across the Trust. You will also be expected to support clinical pharmacy services within the Trust on a sessional basis and act as a role model, with associated senior pharmacist duties within the department. We are a progressive department and are keen to embrace innovative digital ideas. Following significant investment, our pharmacy department has led on innovations in automated drug storage and administration at our brand new hospital. Robotic dispensing is well established and we have a full Electronic Patient Record, including Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration throughout the Trust. We have recently moved our inpatient pharmacy services to the brand new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital and are implementing plans to provide a seven day service to the Trust.
