Specialist Instructional Officer (SIO) Mechanical
Job Summary: Deliver training and lessons, produce lesson plans, participate in internal and external evaluation audits, ensure student conduct and punctuality, integrate Literacy and Numeracy into lessons, provide safety briefs, and contribute to Continuous Improvement.
Salary: £28,300 per annum, plus an additional £6,000 Recruitment and Retention Allowance, resulting in a total remuneration of £34,300. MOD contributes £7,641 towards the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

About the Job: Join the Defence College of Technical Training (DCTT) as a Specialist Instructional Officer (SIO) Mechanical and play a vital role in developing training programs for RAF personnel to become competent and inspired mechanical technicians.
Key Responsibilities: Deliver training and lessons, produce lesson plans, participate in internal and external evaluation audits, ensure student conduct and punctuality, integrate Literacy and Numeracy into lessons, provide safety briefs, and contribute to Continuous Improvement.
Person Specification: Ideal candidate should be a great communicator with the ability to effectively describe complicated ideas to different audiences, well-organised, proficient in time management, good public speaking skills, proactive, and reactive, assessing skills and knowledge within the group and determining what training is needed.
Requirements: Recognised experience and background mechanical engineering, recently qualified individuals encouraged to apply, experience in a military engineering environment desirable, familiar with mechanical engineering management practices and trade policy, and experience in delivery of training.
Role Specific Training: Defence Trainer course (DTc) as applicable, successfully shadow TG5 General Technician Mechanical (GTM) Training modules, and compliance with SIO Competency framework.

Additional Information: The post does not offer relocation expenses, and external recruits who join the MOD will be subject to a six-month probation period.
