This is an exciting opportunity for a dietitian with an interest and some experience in Paediatrics to develop their skills as part of a supportive team.
This is a permanent, full time (working 37.5 hours per week) post based in Morriston Hospital, providing a service across the Swansea and Neath Port Talbot Localities. You will have the opportunity to support the provision of dietetic care for a variety of conditions including cow's milk protein allergy, multiple allergies, faltering growth and selective eating. You will support the Band 7 dietitians in relevant areas gaining experience across the whole paediatric service, including enteral feeding, GI disorders, coeliac disease and early years nutrition. The role will allow you to undertake quality improvement projects within the service. You will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
We will support the successful candidate with development of skills and knowledge within all areas of Paediatrics. We have a robust clinical supervision structure and you would have opportunities to receive formal and informal training. You will receive regular supervision from an experienced Band 7 Advanced Dietitian, as well as peer support from other Band 5 and Band 6 Dietitians.
We offer both departmental and personal CPD time to support your development and are committed to the development of evidenced based practice, research and clinical audit. You will be supported in attending relevant professional networking meetings, interest groups and relevant CPD opportunities.
You will be expected to supervise and mentor student dietitians and dietetic support workers. We are approved for 1, 2 and 3 student placements. We have good support from administrative and Dietetic Assistants. The Health Board has University status with Colleges of Medicine on site.
Although this is a full time position, candidates wishing to work reduced hours/part time will be considered and we are happy to discuss this position with interested candidates. Please contact Leanne.John@wales.nhs.uk for more information.
