The Role
As Event Sales Manager you'll play a key role in driving revenue and delivering exceptional event experiences. Combining proactive and reactive sales, this role involves creating new business opportunities through networking and account management, building client relationships, and managing private dining enquiries. You will also be responsible for end-to-end delivery of in-house events, from conceptualisation to execution, ensuring they are well planned, seamlessly executed, and leave a lasting impression on our guests.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive the growth of events by managing private dining enquiries and converting them into revenue-generating events
* Actively pursue new business opportunities through proactive sales activities such as networking, industry research, and partnering with concierges, agencies, and local businesses
* Build strong, lasting relationships with clients, focusing on both acquisition and retention.
* Ensure exceptional guest service and communication to meet client needs and exceed expectations
* Full ownership of in-house events, from ideation and planning through to flawless execution. This includes organising everything from seasonal parties to bespoke events, ensuring all details are managed effectively
* Regularly review sales performance, track revenue against targets, and adjust strategies accordingly. Monitor and analyse monthly reports and forecasts, and implement necessary action plans
* Work closely with all internal teams, including kitchen, operations, reception, and front-of-house, to ensure smooth event execution and excellent guest service
* Continuously generate new business through research into new industry sectors and ongoing relationships building with key suppliers and partners
* Keep up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activities, and guest preferences to inform sales strategies
* Review pricing and propose improvements based on competitive market research, ensuring the best offerings in the market
* Create and update sales strategies to support the group and event business, ensuring alignment with company goals and vision
* Prepare and present tailored proposals for private dining group bookings, and exclusive hires, ensuring all guest needs met and expectations are exceeded
* Manage event calls and email enquiries in a professional and timely manner
* Build and maintain an extensive database, keeping a detailed and accurate guest history of all relevant details for future events
* Host networking events, client lunches, and industry meetings to raise brand awareness and generate new leads
* Address guest complains promptly and professionally, ensuring satisfactory resolutions to maintain high standards of service
* Be an ambassador for SHG, representing the brand with pride in all settings

About You
* Previous Sales & Events Manager experience within luxury hospitality
* Proven ability to manage a dynamic workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Proven sales experience with a strong track record in proactive sales, including business development, client acquisition, and strategic account management
* Exceptional organisation skills with a keen eye for detail, capable of managing multiple events and client requests simultaneously
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to build rapport and influence at all levels
* Strong and creative problem-solving skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with CRM systems
* Creative and entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to innovate and adapt
* Strong network within hospitality and events industry
* Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to be a proactive ambassador for the company
