We are seeking an experienced and compassionate part time Band 6 Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Specialist Nurse to join our dynamic team. This vital role and exciting opportunity has arisen for a specialist nurse with previous experience of ILD, who is dedicated to provide high quality care for these patients. ILD is a group of complex respiratory diseases, characterised by scarring and inflammation of the lungs. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including consultants, radiologists, pharmacists, administrative team and community respiratory teams.
In this role, you will provide dedicated support to patients with ILD, guiding them from diagnosis, through treatment, and into the palliative phase. You will work closely with palliative care services to ensure seamless continuity of care for this patient group. As a tertiary prescribing Centre for the East Midlands, you will be involved with counselling and monitoring specialised treatments for these patients.

You will be based at Nottingham City Hospital and will be responsible for symptom management and managing the counselling and monitoring of specialist drugs for patients in the respective areas.

We are looking for a nurse who has experience in reviewing patients in both an in-patient and out-patient settings, including reviewing patients in nurse-led clinics. This includes providing advice, performing investigations and monitoring treatment, assessing for oxygen therapy, providing information regarding community support and pulmonary rehabilitation.
The post holder will:
• Attend local Multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, ensuring any nursing actions are acted upon and shared with the wider nursing team.
• To co-ordinate timely transition for patients from initial assessment to treatment.
• To provide information and support to ILD patients and their families at all stages of disease.
• To liaise and refer to the wider MDT.
• To ensure ILD patient data is captured.
• To provide support and teaching to ward and community staff caring for ILD patients.
• To participate in organising and running of the local patient support group.
• To work with the existing team in developing the ILD service.
