Interim Adult Social Care Senior Solicitor

Pay Rate: £28.75 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2 months
City: ASHTON UNDER LYNE
Hybrid working: Some office working required within the needs of the business and attendance at Court.
The Senior Solicitor in Adult Social Care will provide professional legal advice, assistance, and representation on matters related to adult social care, including casework, litigation, and advocacy. The role supports the Council’s objectives by offering proactive legal guidance to enable effective governance and decision-making within the legal framework of local government functions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage a diverse caseload of adult social care litigation and legal advice.
2. Represent the Council in advocacy at various levels of court and tribunals, preparing and managing cases effectively.
3. Provide expert legal advice to the Council and its committees on adult social care issues, ensuring compliance with legal and policy requirements.
4. Draft and settle legal documents related to adult social care matters.
5. Ensure compliance with the Council’s Constitution and governance frameworks in all adult social care legal matters.
6. Deliver a responsive, cost-effective legal service to Council officers and adult social care departments.
7. Align service delivery with the Council’s customer care, health and safety, and equalities agendas.
Key Requirements:
1. Qualified Solicitor or Barrister.
2. Strong knowledge of adult social care law, including legislative frameworks such as the Care Act 2014, safeguarding laws, mental capacity, and adult protection matters.
3. Extensive experience in providing legal advice and representation in adult social care law, including casework, litigation, and advocacy.
4. Proven experience in managing a complex and diverse caseload, including contentious and non-contentious matters.
5. Experience in advocacy at court and tribunal levels, including the preparation and management of cases.
6. Experience of advising local government bodies, particularly in relation to adult social care services and associated legal frameworks.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex legal concepts to non-legal professionals.
8. Ability to draft and settle clear, accurate legal documentation.
9. Proficiency in using legal information systems and technology for case management and communication.
