The Role
Smurfit Westrock Beacon has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated team member to join as Design Admistrator and Sample Maker and to work closely with the design and production teams. Reporting to the Desing Supervisor, this role will focus on ensuring sample boxes are accurate, functional, and meet quality standards before full-scale production. The role will also involve providing vital administrative support to the design team, with potential for growth as new training opportunities arise.
What would I be doing?:
Sample Creation: Produce and test physical samples of corrugated packaging using a CNC Cutter, ensuring quality and functionality.
Collaboration: Work with the Production team to refine designs and provide feedback on manufacturability.
Quality Assurance: Inspect samples for accuracy and durability; conduct functional testing.
Process Improvement: Suggest enhancements to improve efficiency and stay updated on industry trends.
Documentation: Maintain records, manage sample board stock, and handle dispatch and postage.
Administration: Support the Design team with tasks like purchase orders, customer inquiries, and system updates.
Designing: Help developing packaging solutions, creating CAD drawings, and recommending manufacturing processes.
About You:
We're looking for a detail-oriented individual with a strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Familiarity with sample-making tools and equipment is beneficial, while experience working with corrugated cardboard and packaging design would be an advantage.
Basic knowledge of packaging design software, such as CAD, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are desirable. You'll thrive in this role if you have excellent problem-solving skills, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
