Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Caldicott
Salary: £40,000 - 45,000
Working Policy: Hybrid working policy 2/3 days from home
Flexible Starting Time: 36 hour week (core hours between 10am - 3.30pm)

The Company
Established for over 100 years, my client is a market leader in the supply of process engineering systems to a variety of sectors such as Marine, Water, Energy, Food, Beverage, O&G, Renewables and many more.
This multi-million-pound manufacturing business has gone from strength to strength, having been acquired by a well-regarded and lucrative business over recent years, they now form part of a global brand and are able to offer clients more variety of product and services.
Due to expansion, and with a view to begin succession planning within the department, an Electrical Engineer is now required to join the team.
The Role
The systems they manufacture on this site are bespoke standalone water treatment systems which are incorporated into larger systems including pipework, blowers, control systems, and tanks installed onto the end clients' sites.
The primary function of the Electrical Engineer role is project-based, taking the P&ID through to fully designed and specified electrical equipment needed for the system.
Key Responsibilities:
The Electrical Engineer is a project role which takes the initial P&ID through to fully designed and specified electrical equipment needed for the system. This will involve:
1. Writing the control philosophy from the initial P&ID
2. Carrying out calculations to size motors, cables, heat losses, intrinsic safety calculations
3. Creation of the I/O list needed for the system
4. Creating the specifications needed for all the instruments and electrical hardware and PLCs needed for the system
5. Writing FAT procedures for equipment
6. Occasional travel to control panel manufacturers for witnessing tests
7. Continuous liaison with vendors through the project until they have all the correct technical specification equipment needed to supply the right equipment for the project
8. Translating the customer specification technically from contract documentation
The Person
To be successful in the role of Electrical Design Engineer you will:
1. Have an electrical qualification (ideally to HNC level)
2. Have previous experience working within an Electrical Design Engineer role
3. Be able to read electrical drawings and complete electrical calculations
4. Have some base understanding of instrumentation (highly advantageous)
5. Be personable and professional
