Biomedical Scientist - Histology
Oxford Hospital | Pathology | Bank - Ad hoc | Part time

As a Biomedical Scientist at our Oxford Hospital, you'll bring the relevant qualifications and laboratory experience in multidisciplinary biomedical science. You have a good working knowledge of different analytical equipment and techniques. You're also a natural communicator and team player, sharing our commitment to quality.
As a Biomedical Scientist specialising in Histology, you will:
1. Be competent to work in different sections of the laboratory.
2. Participate in the production of histology sections for microscopic examination. This includes: biopsy/specimen transfer, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and microscopy.
3. Prepare staining solutions and reagents and assist in the maintenance of adequate stocks of reagents and consumables.
4. Ensure the efficient and safe use of consumables and equipment within the working area.
5. Participate in internal quality control procedures and external quality assurance procedures.
6. Communicate with clinicians, laboratory, and clinical staff regarding samples required, appropriateness of tests, and provision of results.
7. Work according to the regulations and codes of practice governing aspects of Health and Safety relevant to the department.
8. Maintain a high level of professional competence in the performance of all tests and investigations carried out in the laboratory.
To be considered for this role you must:
1. Have an active HCPC registration.
2. Be organised and possess good IT skills.
3. Have knowledge of the Health and Safety of working in a lab.
