We are recruiting Environmental Health Officers at Caerphilly County Borough Council.
Working hours: 37 hours per week, 7.24 hours per day
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Ty Penallta - Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Environmental Health Teams.
We pay an attractive salary of £41,511 - £44,711 and offer access to training and development opportunities.
Two Environmental Health Officers are required to work in the friendly, but busy Food Safety / Health and Safety / Communicable disease control team. We have a mix of approximately 1,400 food premises, ranging from small retailers and caterers, through to several large E.U. approved factories, and over 2,700 health and safety premises.
We welcome applications from qualified Environmental Health Officers with CIEH registration and who are competent in food safety and health and safety enforcement. Consideration will be given to newly qualified officers. Flexible working hours are in operation, but you must be prepared to work outside these hours. You will also participate in the out of hours standby rota in the evenings and at weekends, for which additional payment are made.
For the role, we ask that you have:
1. Qualification as an environmental health officer with the Environmental Health Registration Board or a willingness to gain registration within 6 months of commencing the post.
2. Knowledge of food safety, health and safety and communicable disease control work and associated legislation.
3. Experience of working within a food safety, health and safety and communicable disease control team.
4. Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the county borough and transport relevant equipment.
