EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We have an opportunity for you to join our Finance team as a Group Financial Accountant. In this exciting role, each day will be different as you’ll work closely with other specialist teams within the Finance Department including Tax, Group Treasury, FP&A and Investor Relations. Your day-to-day tasks will involve delivery of a group financial reporting and accounting service ensuring compliance with group accounting policies and relevant Accounting Standards. Consolidation of the financial information for all entities in the Severn Trent group, including management and statutory accounts, budgets, plans and forecasts.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Delivering the year-end financial accounting process and liaising with external auditors.
* Accounting for complex areas especially in relation to financial instruments, pensions and share based payments.
* Drafting and maintaining documentation to support accounting for complex areas.
* Maintaining regular communication with subsidiary finance teams to understand business developments and leading them through the related financial reporting implications.
* Monitoring compliance with group accounting policies and providing guidance on complex or subjective matters.
* Reviewing and challenging the consolidated information for unusual or unexpected balances appearing on consolidation, and working with subsidiary finance teams to resolve issues identified.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
To be considered for this role, you’ll need:
* Financial qualification in ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
* Ability to handle complex technical financial reporting/accounting issues.
* Experience of a group consolidation process either as auditor or within a finance team.
In addition, you should have the ability to work as part of a team and adhere to challenging deadlines. Having the ability to build strong and credible working relationships across the organisation is a must.
