This role is part of the production team, primarily working within the paint shop to ensure that cars are prepped to the highest standard before being shipped to satisfied clients.
Job Purpose

2. To contribute to the wider production department by upskilling in other core areas.
3. To ensure all duties are carried out to the highest quality standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Some of the core duties are:
Surface Preparation:
* Cleaning surfaces to remove dirt, grease, and other contaminants.
* Sanding or grinding surfaces to create a smooth base for painting.
* Applying primers or undercoats to prepare surfaces for final paint applications.
Paint Mixing and Matching:
* Mixing paints to achieve the desired colour and consistency.
* Matching paint colours to specifications or samples.
Paint Application:
* Applying paint using various methods such as spraying, brushing, or dipping.
* Ensuring even coverage and adherence to thickness specifications.
Quality Control:
* Inspecting painted items for defects, such as runs, sags, or uneven coverage.
* Touching up or reworking defects to meet quality standards.
* Conducting final inspections of the work you carry out to ensure the finished product meets all specifications.
Equipment Maintenance:
* Cleaning and maintaining painting equipment and tools, such as spray guns and brushes.
* Performing routine checks and troubleshooting equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
Safety and Compliance:
* Following safety protocols and procedures to handle hazardous materials safely.
* Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, gloves, and coveralls.
* All colleagues have a duty of following Health and Safety and adhering to any H&S policies and practices when undertaking their role.
Collaboration and Communication:
* Coordinating with other team members to ensure efficient workflow.
* Communicating any issues or delays to supervisors or relevant departments.
* Identifying opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
* Participating in training sessions to stay updated on new techniques and safety procedures.
* Ideally to have undertaken a Vehicle Body Craft Studies course, PPG Autocolor paint specialist course, or other motor factors courses.
* To have proven experience in an automotive paint, body shop, or repair centre environment.
* Previous experience of working within the automotive sector.
Working Hours, Salary & Holiday
· 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.
· Salary depending on experience.
