We are looking for a freelance Bookkeeper to work 21 hours per week within our friendly, dynamic team in Brighton’s North Laine. This is an ideal opportunity for a social individual who wants to make the role their own and become an integral part of our growing business. Work time will be flexible and will involve WFH and part-time in our central premises.
Responsibilities:
* General ledger, accounts payable and receivable
* Reconciliation of petty cash, bank, Worldpay, Stripe, PayPal and company credit cards
* Keep accounts balanced, investigating anomalies as they arise.
* Assist accountant in preparation of monthly management information and reports
* Approve or raise invoices as required, ensuring accurate tracking information is added to enable accurate reporting
* Process and pay invoices for the Purchase Ledger
* Check invoices for the Sales Ledger
* Allocate payments in both the Accounting and CRM systems
* Prepare OSS VAT Returns and submit in a timely fashion
* Payroll and pensions administration, in cooperation with external payroll administrator
* Manage holiday calendar with Operations Manager
* Liaise with the company's external accountants for monthly management accounts, VAT returns and end of year accounts
* Manage the aged debtor and payment plan list to ensure customers payments are up to date
* Provide information for the directors as and when required.
Required Experience:
* Preference given to applicants with 2 years plus experience as a bookkeeper or in an accounting capacity
* Use of accountancy software – Xero essential and Quickbooks desirable
* AAT qualified/AAT studier/QBE
* Thorough working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* A positive attitude and ability to work independently
* Ability to deal with clients and suppliers in a friendly and patient manner
* Confidence to work under own initiative and to achieve deadlines
* Self-motivation with excellent organisational skills and a meticulous eye for detail
* Professionalism and discretion
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £15.00-£18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 21 per week
