Job Overview Due to continued investment in the Pharmacy services, exciting opportunities have arisen for dynamic, motivated individuals to join our friendly team. We are currently undergoing an extensive expansion of pharmacy roles to further establish our position within the clinical MDT. A registered Pharmacy Technician with a final accuracy checking certificate is required to join our busy Hospital Pharmacy team. The Pharmacy department offers purpose built accommodation, an automated dispensary and automated stock control on the majority of our wards. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Pharmacy Technician with demonstrable post qualification experience who wants to make a difference to patient care and contribute towards further developing our Pharmacy Technician ward based clinical services. The right candidate must have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work accurately and independently. They should be able to use their initiative, prioritise work and contribute to a team setting. We offer flexible working patterns where staffing numbers allow and all posts participate in the 1 in 8 weekend and bank holiday rota. Main duties of the job The successful applicant will ideally hold accreditation in the All Wales Programme for Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician or be willing to work towards, after an initial induction period, and they have gained suitable experience within the department. The post covers a wide range of medicines management roles including: Medicines optimisation at ward level including medicines reconciliation; assessing patients’ own medicines at the bedside and processing patient discharge prescriptions Assessment of medication and providing advice to patients attending pre-operative assessment clinics prior to their surgical procedure. Patient counselling Medicines Intervention recording and support data gathering for key performance indicators Provide training to ward staff on the use of automated ward stock cabinets. Management of ward stock in conjunction with the ward and pharmacy team. Working within the wider pharmacy team to support dispensary staff and improve patient flow. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
