Here at East Durham College we have an exciting opportunity for an Animal Management instructor to join our Animal Team at our Houghall Campus on a full time permanent basis.
The main purpose of the post is to deliver high quality practical teaching, learning and assessment of allocated teaching programmes in animal management and support the animal management technician team with day-to-day husbandry of the animal collection.
Main Duties will include:
* To deliver Animal Management practical sessions at various levels by providing instruction and support.
* Liaise with the lecturing and technician team in planning, preparing and carrying out practical instruction and assessment.
* To undertake the assessment of learners’ practical skills, feedback to learners and complete relevant paperwork
* To monitor student attendance and progression/ achievement.
* To action plan and track learners progress during their programme and provide constructive feedback to aid progression.
* To participate in team meetings, undertake assessment and standardisation activities and assist with course planning.
* To assist the Programme Area Leader and Lecturers where required.
* To help maintain facilities, equipment and records as directed by the Curriculum Manager, and in liaison with Unit Manager
* To work to deadlines to ensure students complete their programmes within the agreed timescale.
* To ensure the health and safety of self, learners, staff and visitors through effective management of learners and the learning environment and comply with all health and safety regulations.
* To undertake marketing and promotional activities as directed.
