Job Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for dynamic and hard working Healthcare Assistants to join Ward 5 team. If you enjoy working in a busy and acute General Surgical environment this job will be of a personal interest to you. Ward 5 is a 30 bedded ward which accommodates both male and female patients. We have 4 bays of 6 patients and 1 bay of 3 patients with 3 side rooms. The ward's speciality is General Surgery. We care for a wide range of patients with differing surgical issues including elective surgery therefore have a broad knowledge base in the general surgical sector of nursing. Training will be provided with reference to any specific requirements within our speciality. Main duties of the job To assist and support registered staff in the delivery of high quality, individualised, dignified and compassionate care to patients. To contribute to the effective running of the department by concentrating on tasks that directly support the needs of the patient and assist their journey, prioritising as required. To work under the supervision of a registered healthcare practitioner at all times, working within the parameters of their competence, communicating and documenting appropriately ensuring relevant information is communicated to other members of the multidisciplinary team in a professional and timely manner. The ability to work to a high standard at all times, influencing and role modelling patient centred care. Individuals must be willing to undertake the care certificate training programme. Bank Staff will have a maximum of 6 months to complete the care certificate and other staff will be expected to complete this within a maximum of 12 weeks.
