We are looking for 2 Learning Support Assistants on a temporary basis, to cover Maternity Leave for approximately 9 months.
Barley Lane School is a day special school providing education for up to 80 pupils aged 7-16 who benefit from small group and individualised learning.
We supplement the national curriculum with nurture principles and relational practice to build trust, emotional development, and resilience. Our culture emphasizes consistent adult behavior in supporting children and young people with complex needs.
Located in the St Thomas area of Exeter, we seek Learning Support Assistants to join our relational family and grow together.
The successful candidate(s) will be passionate about working with children and young people and be reflective practitioners. A willingness to learn and a drive to improve one's practice is essential. Candidates should share our values of being Ready, Respectful, and Safe in a community that is honest, humble, and dedicated to our young people, their families, and each other.

You may work across the school or specialise within an identified class or subject area, supporting and learning from others. A good standard of general education with strong numeracy and literacy skills is required, along with effective communication skills with children and adults. Specialisation in literacy and/or numeracy is welcome but not necessary.
This role is ideal for those wanting to become teachers, educational psychologists, or pursue other education-based careers while gaining experience in a supportive environment.
