As a Fabricator/Welder within our NOV HydraRig site in Great Yarmouth. You will have a strong understanding of welding processes and materials to fulfil delivery of structural products such as Skids, tanks, pipework and pressure vessel fabrications. Your ability to interpret weld procedures and isometrics & engineering drawings to determine materials and consumables as well as planning task sequences will be crucial. Key to this role will be your ability to determine priorities to ensure continuous workflow between disciplines ultimately achieving target dates and on time delivery. As Welder, you will carry out acceptable and consistent levels of finish to set quality standards as determined by contract specifications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work to achieve high quality in the assembly and welding of component parts
2. Fit up and weld using SMAW and GMAW processes.
3. Perform arc and oxy-acetylene welding, cutting and brazing on various ferrous and nonferrous metals, in accordance with established methods and procedures.
4. Be proficient in the use of all welding equipment, machinery and tooling used in the Fabrication Shop.
5. Work to weekly production schedule highlighting any key areas which may prevent achieving daily targets
6. Interpret weld procedures, engineering drawings from sketches, materials and electronic images identifying the most efficient, cost effective solution without compromising quality or safety
7. Maintain welder traceability (when applicable)
8. Follow recognised procedures for issuing and returning of welding consumables from stores (rods, wire, flux)
9. Accurately complete details on time sheets/Kronos electronic timekeeping - return them to the Supervisor daily and on completion of a specific jobs
10. Participate in resolving assembly and production issues
11. Minimize waste by using/disposing of raw materials and consumable items efficiently
QUALIFICATIONS
12. Time served apprenticeship or HND in a relevant subject (desirable)
EXPERIENCE
13. Working knowledge within a welding & manufacturing environment including the preparation of components (essential)
14. Working knowledge of offshore skid manufacturing processes (desirable)
SKILLS, TRAINING OR SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE
