Working for Tamworth Borough Council is more than just a job, it’s about making life better for the people who live and work in the Borough. We recognise that everybody who works at Tamworth Borough Council is key to successfully delivering its aims and objectives. We can’t do this without a skilled and ambitious workforce working in a positive environment empowered to do their best.
It’s an exciting time for the Technology and Information Services team, as the Council is reliant more than ever on technology to both improve the services it provides to citizens and to support staff in digital transformation. The ICT Technical Support Officer role is a pivotal part of our ICT service delivery. You will be part of a small team delivering a responsive IT Service Desk function supporting our staff and members with efficient problem resolution, advice, support, and requests for service as well as project work contributing to the implementation of our ICT Strategy.
We are looking for an individual with excellent customer service and communication skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to manage their workload in an organised and efficient manner to meet SLA’s and internal deadlines. You will have a positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, be resourceful, and be able to work using your own initiative, contributing effectively to the team.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in an IT support role, be ITIL aware with excellent knowledge in technologies such as Windows desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft 365, Entra/Active Directory/Azure and Intune, VMware ESXi/Horizon View, and a good understanding of Cyber Security and associated technologies.
This is a hybrid working position with time split between office and home working; however, flexibility is essential. The successful candidate will be offered appropriate equipment but must have a fast and stable internet connection and a suitable home working environment. If you’re ready for a new challenge and to be part of a team committed to continuous improvement and organisational digital transformation, we'd love to hear from you.
We have an extensive benefits package including flexible working, a non-contributory health scheme, Local Government pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, discounted gym membership, and payment of professional fees (where applicable). For further details please refer to the application information document on our website.
Appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, right to work in the UK check, medical clearance, and DBS check.
For an informal discussion about the role please contact Gareth Youlden, Head of Technology and Information Services, on 01827 709563.
