Navy Develop is the Navys Capability Design Authority. It is responsible for articulating the force and capability requirements of the future based upon Head Office policy and Navy strategic planning, ensuring that our capability plans are problem-led, mission-focussed and threat/risk aware. It also acts as the through-life capability sponsor for all Navy capabilities advocating for and enacting major portfolio changes to address capability shortfalls and drive towards the Navy of tomorrow. Within Develop, the UWB team is responsible for through-life capability sponsorship of Navy UWB capabilities and for cohering pan-Defence UWB capability planning via the 2 UWB Capability Management Group. The team is also responsible for establishing new major UWB programmes and delivery of the ASW Spearhead programme and for managing substantial international collaboration activity, especially with the US, Australia, and within the new AUKUS framework. The execution of these roles requires broad engagement across MOD, with international allies and industry partners. The UWB team is a friendly, high-performing team which has adopted hybrid working principles that encourage a blend of home and office working, as dictated by work requirements/personal preferences. The team also operates following Agile principles (SCRUM) and the associated drumbeat of meetings to prioritise activity and manage workloads. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job description The UWB International and Governance Team Leader is responsible directly to the Deputy Director for the coordination of all UWB International Capability Staff Talks and engagement (with the exception of AUKUS Pillar 2 activity) and for the coordination of DCDS(MILCAP)s 2 UWB Capability Management Group and the supporting 6 1-led Capability Planning Groups. Both of these roles require the incumbent to work closely with the military UWB capability sponsors and key stakeholders across UK Defence and with our closest allies. DV security clearance is essential to enable access to the capability meetings but can be gained in post. As the UWB Capability Governance lead, the incumbent will bring P3M rigour to this crucial function, driving the drumbeat of meetings, capturing key risks and issues for each forum, tracking investment choices, and driving progress against agreed actions.
