Job responsibilities 1. Develop and provide a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service for the patients in your areas at UHCW NHS Trust, and attend multidisciplinary team meetings as required. 2. Provide strategic guidance on clinical pharmacy issues relating to your areas and offer professional pharmacy leadership in this area of care. 3. Proactively influence safe and cost-effective drug therapy with other senior clinical staff within your areas. This will include new drug evaluations, financial reporting, and the development of policies. 4. Identify areas where improvements in both the quality and cost-effectiveness of pharmaceutical care and prescribing can be encouraged. 5. Work with senior staff in your areas to review and develop policies and procedures to ensure the safe and effective handling of medications. Ensure policies and procedures comply with existing legal requirements, best practice, national and local guidelines, and Health Care Commission requirements. Undertake risk management and develop audits related to the supply, storage, and administration of medicines and other pharmaceuticals. 6. Lead, develop, and deliver education and training in the pharmaceutical aspects of your areas to other healthcare professionals. This will include trainee pharmacists and diploma students. Encourage and cultivate an environment of clinical and practice-based research and audit. Contribute to current and future research and audit projects associated with the use of drugs within your areas. 7. Manage and train more junior rotational staff allocated to your areas, including aspects of day-to-day line management, and act as a diploma tutor/trainee designated supervisor as needed. Act as a team leader for the clinical pharmacy team in your area (e.g., as group/directorate lead). 8. Practise as an expert practitioner, providing advice and consultancy to patients, healthcare professionals, and other agencies relating to the pharmaceutical aspects of trauma and orthopaedics in your areas. This includes having a good working knowledge of general surgery, plastic surgery, and intensive care. 9. Participate as part of the MDT on consultant ward rounds, and work towards supporting prescribing on the ward as an independent prescriber according to your scope of practice.
