Business Development Manager - Hazardous Waste
Location: Darlington
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000pa + car allowance + bonus
Fantastic opportunity in the Darlington area for a Business Development / Sales professional with sound commercial knowledge of the waste sector to join a forward-thinking industry leader. Ideally, you will have experience in Hazardous Waste services, but candidates with General Waste sales experience who are keen to specialize will also be considered.
This role involves all new business wins - there are no account management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Identify and implement sizeable new Hazardous Waste accounts through exploring potential markets to collect and transport Hazardous Waste, focusing on the Manufacturing and Distribution sectors.
2. Develop and manage a detailed new business pipeline capable of providing a clear business forecast of expected volumes and over-achieving on targeted new business sales revenues.
3. Produce reports to give visibility of current activity and forecast new activity.
4. Work closely with the Depot and Sales Management teams to identify the industry sectors and locations to target new business wins.
5. Accurately maintain data within the CRM platform.
6. Liaise regularly with other commercial functions to share pipelines and best practices.
7. Support and respond to tenders and requests for information where appropriate.
Key Skills/Experience:
1. General knowledge of the waste sector and ideally experience in selling Hazardous Waste services.
2. Knowledge of Waste industry legislation would be advantageous.
3. Experience in successfully developing, managing, and implementing new business services.
4. Good presentation, selling, negotiating, and influential skills.
5. Experience in bid writing and the ability to respond to tendering documentation would be advantageous.
6. Ability to digest and analyze data at pace.
7. Experience in building and maintaining customer relationships.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Sales professional with an understanding of the Manufacturing and Distribution industries and a background in the Hazardous Waste sector. However, applications will also be welcomed from sales professionals who have sold General Waste services but wish to diversify and develop new knowledge and skills in a waste specialism.
