Stirling Council's Justice Social Work Service are able to offer an exciting opportunity for a permanent, Senior Social Worker to join the Prison Based Social Work Team in the new purpose built facility for women, HMP Stirling.
HMP Stirling opened to women in June 2023 and accommodates up to 104 women with high risk and complex needs. We are seeking a dynamic person who is committed to work with women in custody using a gender specific and trauma informed approach which recognises the complexity of women's needs. We are also seeking someone who is motivated to support women in their journey through custody to better prepare them for resettlement in their communities.
We are seeking a senior social worker who will carry a small caseload as well as having responsibility for supporting the day to day running of the team. Duties will include case management tasks including attending ICMs and writing reports for the Parole Board, providing staff supervision and coordination of day to day practice and service delivery. We are seeking a social worker who is skilled and passionate about working with women involved in the Justice system. A good understanding of risk management and the legislative framework underpinning Justice Social work is required.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to work within a small, motivated team to provide a proactive and quality social work service to women in custody. We work in partnership with the Scottish Prison Service and community based social work teams to manage and support all women subject to supervision on release. We also have a number of local priorities which include working with pregnant women and new mothers, programme delivery and supporting young women.
All applicants must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council and hold a degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification.
This is a permanent position working 35 hours a week.
