Band 5 Staff Nurse - Beechlydene Ward, Fountain Way
Beechlydene Ward are looking for like-minded enthusiastic and dedicated Registered Mental Health Nurses who share our visions and values.
Beechlydene is a 21 bedded ward, split into single sex wings, this is an excellent opportunity to work within a service users with a range of mental health needs in crisis.
Working alongside a supportive and cohesive team, you will have excellent communication skills, be able to demonstrate shift coordination and show competent nursing abilities within the clinical area to both the registered and unregistered staff. You will be able to demonstrate effectiveness in ensuring continuity of care and implementation of trust policies.
Developmental support will be provided through the supervision structure and ward manager. There is prospect for providing access to training, which focuses on clinical, management and leadership skills. This is in addition to receiving a comprehensive induction package on commencing employment on the ward. You will receive annual appraisals specifically looking at your development and career progression within the Trust. We also offer an excellent preceptorship programme to all our newly qualified nurses.
Main duties of the job
1. Undertaking a comprehensive, person-centred, nursing assessment and prepare care plans in consultation with the service users to provide the best nursing care.
2. Evaluation of effectiveness of care provided in partnership with users.
3. To complete risk assessments.
4. Ability to implement research-based practice.
5. To maintain and develop professional knowledge, skills and expertise.
6. Ensure that service provision is both safe and therapeutic within span of knowledge.
7. Effective time management.
8. Participate in education and training opportunities.
9. The upkeep of patient records in accordance with relevant NMC Guidelines and Trust Policy.
10. Maintain safety of clients and staff within the Unit and ensure legal obligations are fulfilled.
11. Take part in a rolling programme of audit.

Job responsibilities
1. Clinical Practice Management: To carry out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring that high quality evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided.
2. Teaching, Education & Health Promotion: To use own skills, knowledge and resources to provide mentoring opportunities for staff within designated areas and promote positive attitudes towards mental health.
3. Continuing Professional Development: To maintain and develop professional knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure that practice reflects best practice, remains evidence based, is current and responsive to meet changing patient and NHS service needs.
4. Finance and Workforce: To make best use of available workforce resources based on agreed staffing models ensuring provision of best care possible.
5. Record Keeping and Administration: To maintain standards of record keeping and associated administration in accordance with AWP Trust Policy and local joint arrangements and professional guidelines.
6. Evidence-Based Nursing, Practice Development & Clinical Audit: To contribute to practice development activity and evidence-based mental health nursing.
