Description
My client is currently recruiting for an Environmental, Health & Safety and Sustainability Lead (EHS&S Lead) to join an experienced and committed team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership, expertise, support, direction, and assistance in facility EHS matters. They will be instrumental in developing site EHS strategy in line with global policies, developing and tracking KPI’s to drive continual improvement to ensure that EHS risks are kept to a minimum through effective compliance with EHS policies, procedures, and monitoring of compliance. The successful candidate will lead and facilitate an independent safety culture, driving continuous improvement by promoting EHS policies, procedures & operational practices, providing advice and assistance within their sphere of competence.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Maintain CMIOSH or working towards by Initial Professional Development (IPD).
2. Maintain site EHS management system in line with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
3. Have a deep understanding of EHS regulations and guidelines to ensure compliance.
4. Develop site strategy in line with global policies, developing and tracking KPI’s to drive continual improvement.
5. Maintain site risk management strategies.
6. Ensure compliance with environmental permits.
7. Use analytical skills to assess data, identify trends and patterns.
8. Lead or support multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively to successful completion.
9. Maintain EHS budget and CAPEX.
10. Provide strong leadership skills to engage employees towards an interdependent safety culture, manage teams effectively, and provide guidance and support.
11. Use effective communication skills to communicate with employees, management, and regulatory agencies.
12. Utilize interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide range of people and build positive relationships with employees, management, and internal and external agencies.
13. Lead the site EHS team and wider EHS family.
14. Problem-solving skills: the ability to quickly identify and solve problems.
15. Ensure investigations of accidents and incidents, conduct root cause analysis, report accidents when required (RIDDOR), and maintain all accident records.
16. Maintain all records – in both paper and electronic format.
17. Undertake monthly reporting on key EHS metrics as required at both site and corporate levels.
18. Provide EHS support as required at Department / Corporate level meetings including monthly EHS Committee.
19. Ensure effective management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste collections from site in place to meet corporate and legal requirements.
20. Act as a point of contact for all regulatory authorities, for example, Fire Department, HSE, Environment agency, etc.
21. Day-to-day activities may be directed by the plant manager, but organizationally all site/campus EHS leads report directly into a regional or global EHS manager.
Qualifications
Characteristics of a successful candidate:
1. Qualified to IOSH / NEBOSH level 6 diploma or similar qualification.
2. CMIOSH or working towards with Initial Professional Development (IPD).
3. Experienced with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
4. Deep understanding of EHS regulations and guidelines needed to ensure compliance.
5. Understanding of developing site strategy in line with global policies, developing and tracking KPI’s to drive continual improvement.
6. Knowledge of risk management and the ability to develop risk management strategies.
7. Understanding of cosmetic or similar manufacturing processes / risks – plant and equipment, chemicals, DSEAR, COMAH, environmental permits.
8. Good analytical skills to assess data, identify trends and patterns.
9. Project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively to successful completion.
10. Ability to manage EHS budget and CAPEX.
11. Strong leadership skills to lead teams to improve safety culture, manage teams effectively, and provide guidance and support.
12. Communication skills to effectively communicate with employees, management, and regulatory agencies.
13. Strong knowledge of safety culture programs.
14. Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide range of key stakeholders and build positive relationships with employees, management, and internal and external agencies.
15. Problem-solving skills: the ability to quickly identify and solve problems.
