About the role
We are seeking a talented professional to design, create, and develop our pricing capabilities, playing a pivotal role in evolving our Pricing Technical Strategy. Collaborating closely with the Pricing Leadership Team, you'll drive innovation and deliver technical solutions that enhance pricing accuracy, optimise premium strength, and provide vital insights into cost drivers.
As a key player in our team, you will work alongside Pricing Managers and Department Heads to develop and refine technical solutions that ensure fair and accurate pricing across our product range. Your expertise will help maintain independence and ensure that our pricing strategy aligns with our overall strategic objectives. You'll lead the creation and delivery of effective pricing solutions, adhering to departmental standards and quality benchmarks while shaping the future direction of the NFUM Pricing function.
You’ll have the opportunity to design, implement, and improve testing frameworks that guarantee the integrity and accuracy confidence of our rate models. You'll also contribute to our continuous improvement efforts, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of market best practices and regulatory compliance.
As an ambassador for our Pricing function, you'll build and nurture relationships with senior stakeholders across NFU Mutual, including Underwriting, Claims, and IT departments. By influencing key strategic programmes, you will strengthen confidence in our pricing decisions and ensure the successful delivery of objectives.
In addition to your primary responsibilities, you may occasionally lead or influence dotted-line reports, depending on project needs. You'll work closely with peers and Pricing Consultants to manage dynamic control cycles, ensuring the quality of premium strength, risk accumulation, and model outputs are monitored and optimised.
About you
We're seeking a skilled pricing professional with significant experience gained within a general insurance pricing function. You’ll be able to demonstrate strong expertise in SQL and Emblem software, with additional experience in Radar and Guidewire being highly desirable.
You’ll have a proven track record in pricing implementation, combined with the ability to coach and mentor team members, setting clear direction for junior team members, and peer-review work to ensure accuracy and quality.
With experience leading projects and software testing, you’ll demonstrate a proactive and forward-thinking approach with the confidence to voice ideas and contribute to the strategic direction of the pricing team.
You will also be able to demonstrate the following:
• Effective communication skills with the ability to present information impactfully
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, particularly when engaging with senior-level professionals
• Strong critical and logical thinking skills, enabling effective problem-solving and sound decision-making.

Working at NFU Mutual
We’re one of the UK’s leading general insurance and financial services companies. For over 110 years we’ve put our customers at the heart of everything we do. Our people are just as important to us. We pride ourselves on being “a great place to work” and we're one of only 60 companies across the globe to receive a Gallup Exceptional Workplace 2024 award, and one of only 2 companies to receive the award for the ninth consecutive year. We were also named in the LinkedIn Top 25 Companies List 2021, the Glassdoor Best Places to Work UK List 2023 and 2024, and were recognised as a certified UK Top Employer by the Top Employers Institute in 2023 and 2024.
We offer a supportive culture where we empower and inspire our people to perform, offer them opportunities to grow, and recognise and reward their contribution. Our people are proud to work for a company that respects them and their communities, and they trust us to be financially sustainable, so we are successful now and in the future.
We are a leading provider of General Insurance and Financial Services. From our strong farming roots we’ve grown to become a UK-wide organisation, turning over £1 billion annually. Yet success hasn’t gone to our heads. We’re proud to remain completely customer focused, down-to-earth and committed to the rural communities we’ve grown from.
Our ethos - of trust, respect and personal service - lies at the heart of all we do and has seen us build an enviable reputation for exceptional member loyalty. Though we’ve been in business for over 110 years, we have big ambitions for the future. And that’s why we’re looking for talented people to join our growing organisation. Talented people like you.
