Due to continued growth, we are now seeking an Apprentice Manual Machinist to join the team within the Sheffield Business Unit.
As a multi-disciplined service provider, we support local industry and infrastructure from our facility in Sheffield with a range of unique rotating machine services, with specialist support available for the Oil and Gas, Marine and Renewables, Water markets.
Key Responsibilities & Accountability
The role will offer the individual the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of mechanical engineering processes within the rotating machines industry, particularly the machine shop. These are all areas in which you will gain experience and find your place.
Your key Responsibilities & Accountability on completion of your apprenticeship may include:
* Operate lathes, Milling Machines and Boring Machines
* Machining and manufacturing of rotating equipment parts
* Complex Turning and welding of pump bearings and shafts
* Undertake works to a high standard on a first-time fix basis where possible
Attend lectures, practical workshops, and visits as per training provider learning plan. In addition to the above responsibilities, you will also be taught general machining skills.
Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes
The successful candidate will be required to commit to a 4-year apprenticeship with Quartzelec starting in September 2025.
The apprenticeship is Level 3 Engineering Technician which will include a 6-month block release to AMRC followed by day release for the remainder of the apprenticeship.
The following qualifications are attained through this apprenticeship:
Level 3 Engineering Technician Mechatronics
To be successful for the apprenticeship with Quartzelec, candidates will need to have a minimum of 4 GCSE’s at Grade C/5 equivalent, including mathematics, English, and Science.
