Who You Are You are someone who is compassionate and adaptable, with a strong desire to support children and young adults, especially those with additional needs, whether medical or behavioral. Residing within the Plymouth City Council Area is essential. Your flexibility with variable hours and availability for short-term notice is crucial, as you will be on a relief register to provide cover for regular Passenger Assistants (PAs) who are unavailable. Your readiness for shifts during early mornings to late afternoons, Monday to Friday, is vital. Furthermore, you should be prepared for impromptu requests during the day, and have a genuine interest in gaining valuable experience by interacting with students of diverse needs. What the Job Involves The role of a Passenger Assistant involves accompanying young students, aged 4 to 25, to and from school or college, predominantly using a Minibus or Taxi. You will provide cover for PAs, especially those who are unavailable, working during specified hours from 07:00 to 10:00 and 14:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. There will also be the possibility of last-minute calls to arrange future cover, which might be short-term, such as half a day, or extend longer. The position promises a rewarding experience filled with variety as you journey through Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall, enhancing your skills by working closely with students. Before starting, you will receive a day of 'classroom' training, and the rewarding job offers payment for the time you work.
