Job Purpose:
A growing, forward-thinking company seeks an Accounts Assistant for its Northampton Outsourcing team. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Build productive working relationships with colleagues and clients.
* Develop and apply technical knowledge through on-the-job training and formal qualifications.
* Use accounting software to generate accurate reports for Managers, Partners, and clients.
* Produce simple sets of reconciled management information for clients inclusive of profit and loss account and balance sheet.
* Prepare basic tax computations and returns e.g. corporation tax.
* Prepare monthly and quarterly VAT returns for sole traders, limited companies, and partnerships.
* Prepare working papers including bank reconciliations, VAT reconciliations, and other control account reconciliations.
* Help to prepare statutory accounts and finalize accounts under the overall supervision of your Manager.
Person Specification:
* Strong IT skills, with the ability to quickly learn new software packages.
* Highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Self-starter with a high level of resilience and initiative.
* Effective team player who can also work independently.
Key Experience:
* Minimum of 1 year’s experience ideally in a practice Outsourcing team.
* With the intention of working towards AAT/ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualification.
* A positive and confident self-starter, who understands the importance of maintaining positive client relationships as well as internal collaboration.
* Strong IT skills, specifically Xero and Excel, alongside an ability to pick up new software packages very quickly.
* Identifying opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Hours of Work:
* Flexible working of 37.5 hours a week (Monday - Friday). Open to Hybrid (max 2 days working from home).
