Mechanical Estimator
This role is based either from our client's Manchester or London offices, with at least two days in the office each week, the rest remote. The successful candidate will have mechanical estimating experience from an M&E, MEP, or building services background.

Our client is one of the UK's leading contractors specializing in working with numerous sectors to deliver low carbon and renewable energy multi-technology generation, distribution, and consumption solutions. Services include (but are not limited to): CHP, various low carbon and renewable energy solutions, energy from waste, air and ground source heat pumps, BESS, solar PV, biomass, energy centres, HIUs, ESCo, and communal and district heating.

Our client has experienced significant growth and is set on an envious upwards trajectory over the next 5-10 years, and consequently wishes to appoint a high calibre Mechanical Estimator. In this role, you will play a crucial part in winning new projects by preparing accurate prime cost estimates for the mechanical components of bids. Success will be measured through effective management and servicing of clients, maintaining net margins, and a high level of staff satisfaction, while also liaising closely with Senior Managers in providing regular progress and general reporting.
The Role
1. Supporting the Estimating team with mechanical bids and tenders.
2. Preparing and submitting prime cost estimates utilizing Enterprise Estimating Software.
3. Liaising with internal and external engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to construct and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
4. Analyzing drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare estimates.
5. Identifying and providing alternative cost proposals, solutions, and value engineering options.
6. Establishing and maintaining tendering processes and conducting negotiations.
7. Preparing and maintaining a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
8. Supporting and encouraging junior team members.
9. Monitoring targets and workflow.
10. Controlling and organizing tender documentation.
11. Tracking and reporting analytics on various campaigns and internal communications.
You will be responsible for all your own workload and managing all assigned projects. You will also be required to make your own decisions and show initiative.
The Person
1. Experience working for a Mechanical & Electrical contractor.
2. Proficient in using estimating software packages.
3. Experience in budget and cost planning.
4. Advanced skills in Excel.
5. Ability to analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare estimates.
6. Experience in preparing and submitting prime cost estimates using Estimating Software.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues and provide timely resolutions.
8. An inquisitive mind with attention to detail.
9. High attention to detail and analytical thinker.
10. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with business and external stakeholders.
11. Self-disciplined.
12. Good oral and written communication skills.

15. A full UK driving licence.
